Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Specialty Crew Leader to coordinate maintenance operations including pavement patching, drainage work, and shoulder repairs. The role involves operating Jet Vac and heavy equipment, plus maintaining daily HMMS inputs.

You'll perform pre-trip inspections, assist with traffic control, and work in varying weather conditions. A valid driver’s license is required, with CDL class A to be obtained within six months of placement.

Qualifications

• 2.5 years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance operations including pavement patching, drainage structures and pipe cleaning, and low shoulder repair.
• Operate Jet Vac (vacuum/pipe truck) and other heavy equipment (backhoes, motor graders, front end loader) as needed.
• Input daily work accomplishments into HMMS system and assist with traffic control setup and flagging in work zones.
• Conduct pre-trip equipment/vehicle inspections per department rules and safety procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
