Job summary

The State of West Virginia advertises a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator position reporting to the Lincoln County Headquarters. Under general supervision, you will operate skid steers, tractors, bucket trucks, loaders, and trucks to build and maintain highways, repair culverts and bridges, and perform field maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include flagging, installing traffic signs, performing minor repairs, and routine vehicle maintenance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of procedures, techniques, and equipment used in the area of assignment.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used in the area of assignment.
• Knowledge of safety standards and procedures in the area of assignment.
• Knowledge of maintenance and repair methods in building maintenance trades.
• Ability to read manuals and specifications in the area of assignment.
• Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools.
• Ability to train and work with others.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate highway maintenance equipment and heavy vehicles.
• Perform major repairs to highways, culverts, and bridge structures.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs in the field (tires, blades, filters).
• Maintain and clean equipment, check fluid levels.
• Flag and install traffic signs and barricades on projects.
• Travel may be required; a valid driver's license is required.
