Job summary

State of West Virginia seeks a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator in Monroe County. The role involves operating skid steers, bucket trucks, loaders, and trucks to build and repair highways, culverts, and bridges.

Expect exposure to weather and hazardous conditions, with an apprenticeship path and CDL requirements. You will work under supervision, learning through hours, training, and progression toward licensure as needed.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• A valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
• No substitutions for the CDL requirement.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment and attachments.
• Repair culverts, bridges, and highway structures as needed.
• Perform minor field mechanical repairs and maintenance on equipment.
• Flag and set up traffic control signs and barricades on sites.
• Shovel, mow, and perform brush cutting as part of routine upkeep.
• Travel as required; maintain and log time and repairs.
