Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator to join the Lincoln County Headquarters. You will perform full‑performance level skilled work in the construction and maintenance of highways, operating skid steer, tractors, bucket trucks, loaders, and heavy trucks.

Duties include major and minor repairs to highways, culverts and bridges, field maintenance, equipment servicing, flagging and traffic control, mowing and brush cutting.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Experience with highway maintenance equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment such as skid steers, tractors, aerial bucket trucks, loaders, and trucks.
• Perform major and minor repairs on highways, culverts and bridges; conduct field maintenance.
• Maintain and lubricate equipment, check fluid levels, and perform basic diagnostics.
• Flag, set up traffic control signs, and perform mowing and brush cutting; travel may be required.
