Job summary

The State of West Virginia DOT seeks qualified Equipment Operator 3 in the Materials, Control, Soil, and Testing Division. Under supervision, you will perform skilled work in highway construction and maintenance, operating various highway maintenance machines and performing repairs. CDL is required and progression through a U.S.

DOL apprenticeship program is available. Expect irregular hours and potential overtime; CDL must be maintained to advance within the program.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety practices in construction and maintenance.
• Ability to read operation manuals and blueprints.
• Experience operating heavy highway maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate skid steer, tractor, aerial bucket truck, loader, tandem truck, and snowplow.
• Make major repairs to highways, culverts, and bridges.
• Perform field maintenance on equipment and basic mechanical work.
