Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator at the Brooke County Maintenance Headquarters to perform skilled highway construction and maintenance duties under supervision.

Responsibilities include operating skid steers, utility tractors, aerial bucket trucks, and other heavy equipment, performing major and minor highway repairs, and maintaining and repairing equipment. CDL Class A or B is required; apprenticeship progression is available.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• Valid Class A or B CDL required.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, weekends, and travel as needed.
• Apprenticeship program progression is available through WVDOT.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment and attachments.
• Perform major repairs to highways, culverts and bridge structures.
• Perform minor field repairs (tires, blades, filters).
• Maintain and lubricate equipment and check fluid levels.
• Flag, erect traffic control signs and barricades on projects.
• Travel may be required; a valid driver’s license is required.
