Job summary

West Virginia is seeking a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator at the Brooke County Maintenance Headquarters to perform skilled highway construction and maintenance, operating skid steer, tractor, aerial bucket truck, loader, and other heavy equipment.

The role includes repairing culverts and bridges, field maintenance, traffic control, and safety procedures; progression through the apprenticeship program is based on hours completed, training, and CDL requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• No substitutions for the CDL requirement.
• Experience with highway equipment and heavy vehicles.
• Willing to travel and work irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Drive dump, flatbed, and tandem-axle trucks.
• Operate highway maintenance equipment and attachments.
• Perform minor field repairs and maintenance.
• Patch cement, pavement and bridge decks.
• Flag and set traffic controls on projects.
• Transport fuel to equipment.
