Job summary

West Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator to support highway maintenance tasks across Marshall County. Under supervision, you will operate skid steer, utility tractor, aerial bucket truck, front-end loader, tandem-axle truck, and snowplow, and perform major repairs to highways, culverts, and bridges.

The role involves field repairs, routine equipment maintenance, and signaling traffic with signs and barricades.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL required for Equipment Operator role.
• No substitutions for the CDL requirement.
• Experience with highway maintenance equipment preferred.
• Willing to work irregular hours and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate dump, flatbed, or tandem-axle trucks.
• Perform field repairs and routine equipment maintenance.
• Repair culverts and bridge structures.
• Patch cement, pavement and bridge decks.
• Set up traffic control signs and barricades.
• Travel may be required; valid driver's license required.
