Job summary

West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) seeks a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator to maintain and repair highways. You will operate skid steer, tractors, bucket trucks, loaders, and trucks, perform field repairs, and ensure equipment readiness.

CDL is required; some positions may require additional certifications. The role involves flagging, traffic control, weather exposure, and possible overtime.

Qualifications

• CDL class A or B required.
• Ability to operate highway maintenance equipment and heavy vehicles.
• Adhere to safety standards and OSHA guidelines.
• Read operating manuals and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment and attach; drive trucks (dump, flatbed, tandem-axle).
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Repair and construct culverts, patch cement and bridge decks.
• Maintain records and report work orders.
