Job summary

West Virginia Department of Transportation, District Heavy Maintenance Office, is seeking a Transportation Worker 3 Equipment Operator. The role involves operating highway maintenance equipment, performing repairs, and assisting with drilling operations as part of the district’s heavy construction team.

The ideal candidate will hold a Class A or B CDL, have four years of experience operating heavy equipment, and be able to perform skilled trades in highway maintenance while adhering to safety

Qualifications

• CDL required for Equipment Operator area.
• Four years of full-time or equivalent experience operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, end loaders, dump trucks, drillers, etc.
• Knowledge of safety practices in structural steel construction and pipeline/worksite safety.
• Ability to read blueprints and operate and maintain highway equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic crane and heavy motorized equipment to excavate, grade, and level soil and aggregate.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs of heavy equipment, including fluids, tires, and filters.
• Lead or train lower-level equipment operators and assist drilling operations.
• Maintain records of daily maintenance activities and safety checks.
