Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator in Wayne County to perform skilled highway construction and maintenance, operating skid steer, utility tractor, aerial bucket truck, and other heavy equipment. Under supervision, you will make major and minor repairs, maintain equipment, perform flagging and traffic control, and work long hours including weekends.

A Class A or B CDL is required; apprenticeship earned.

Qualifications

• No formal education required; CDL preferred upon appointment.
• Valid Class A or Class B CDL is required for the Equipment Operator role.
• Completion of apprenticeship program is possible after hours and training.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment such as skid steer, bucket truck, and loader.
• Repair highways, culverts, bridges, and perform field maintenance.
• Flag traffic and set up signs and barricades at worksites.
• Maintain and service equipment, read manuals, and keep records.
• Travel may be required; a valid driver's license is required.
