Job summary

West Virginia Transportation Department seeks a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator for Pocahontas County Headquarters. The role performs skilled work in construction and maintenance of highways, bridges, and related structures, operating skid steer, bucket truck, loader, and heavy trucks. A Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) is required.

The selected applicant will join a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship program with progression based on hours, proficiency, and training;

Qualifications

• CDL is required for the Equipment Operator role.
• Apprenticeship program through U.S. Department of Labor will apply.
• Progression depends on hours, proficiency, and training.

Responsibilities

• Drive dump, flatbed, or tandem-axle trucks.
• Operate highway maintenance equipment and attachments.
• Repair and construct culverts and patch cement and bridge decks.
• Install and remove signposts; erect traffic signs and barricades.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and perform cleaning and lubrication.
