Job summary

Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking a Highway Data Manager to oversee highway inventory data activities and IRIS system ownership. You will develop procedures, train staff, and coordinate GIS data work for FHWA submittals and state reporting.

You’ll generate annual and special reports using SQL and Access, maintain GIS layers, and guide districts on data quality. A bachelor’s degree plus data experience is required, with hybrid work options and robust benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, mathematics, or computer science plus two years of data management/analysis experience, or eight years of data management/analysis experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops review procedures to ensure the accuracy and validity of IRIS system files.
• Directs staff on data collection, processing, and analysis of highway inventory data.
• Directs timely submittals of FHWA roadway data requirements.
• Uses GIS and related software to review data, create GIS plots and reports.
• Develops and runs Microsoft Access and SQL queries to prepare annual and special reports.
• Maintains GIS base layers for accurate road network representation.
• Directs district revisions for data errors detected through edits.
• Collaborates with units to coordinate changes affecting roadway data across systems.
• Performs duties safely and equitably for all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
