Job summary

Illinois Department of Transportation in Paris, IL is seeking a Geometrics Engineer to interpret policy and design highway geometries, intersections and access controls. You will lead route location studies and coordinate with consultants during peak workloads.

The position requires an active IL PE or Structural Engineer license and at least five years in civil engineering; a driver's license is required and occasional statewide travel is possible. Office-based with hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois or as licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois.
• Five years of experience in civil engineering.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Develops geometric designs and determines if central office review is required prior to public hearings.
• Reviews and concurs with geometric designs prepared by consultants, counties, or municipalities.
• Reviews and accepts geometric revisions after construction contracts are awarded.
• Directs route location and design studies during peak workloads.
• Trains, motivates, and evaluates staff.
