Position Details

Job Location: 2409 N Country Club Drive, Mesa, AZ 85201

Salary Range: $37,838 - $50,848 per year | $18.19 - $24.45 per hour

Grade: 14-19

Job Summary

This role involves maintaining a safe and efficient transportation system, serving the public courteously and promptly. Positions are assigned based on experience and qualifications.

Job Duties

1. Highway Operations Worker: Entry-level position involving operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, pavement care, landscape preservation, roadside repairs, signing and striping, and environmental compliance.
2. Highway Operations Tech 1: Apprentice role with training to perform advanced duties including operation of vehicles and equipment, pavement and landscape care, roadside repairs, signing and striping, and environmental compliance.
3. Highway Operations Tech 2: Responsible for intermediate highway duties and supervising staff, including scheduling, inspecting, and guiding work.
4. Highway Operations Tech 3: Full journey classification with high-level operational and supervisory responsibilities, including overseeing staff and ensuring compliance.

Qualifications & Skills

Candidates should have relevant roadway/highway experience, with specific requirements varying by position (from 6 months to 3 years). A valid Arizona CDL (Class A) with necessary endorsements is required, and candidates must obtain their permit within 90 days of hire and the license within 6 months.

Pre-Employment & Other Requirements

• Registration with FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
• Ability to respond to emergency call outs 24/7 within 30 minutes
• Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Completion of E-Verify process
