Job description

Construction Laborer w/CDL (Construction)

The Construction Laborer performs manual duties supporting telecommunications construction, involving physical labor. Duties may vary depending on management.

Essential Position Functions:
  1. Operate hand and power tools, prepare sites, dig trenches, set supports, erect scaffolding, and clear debris.
  2. Dig ditches or trenches, backfill, and compact earth to grade specifications.
  3. Load/unload materials, machinery, and tools, distributing them per project plans.
  4. Perform manual tasks in road/highway environments to prepare worksites for telecommunication cabling.
  5. Locate underground utilities and eliminate hazards for cabling work.
  6. Use various tools and machinery to complete assignments.
  7. Maintain a clean and safe job site, securing tools and equipment daily.
  8. Control traffic around work zones.
  9. Handle and store materials properly.
  10. Follow safety and incident reporting procedures.
  11. Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • At least 1 year of roadside construction experience preferred.
  • Competence with hand and power tools required.
  • Valid driver’s license and CDL required.
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently and in teams, and communicate effectively.
  • Must pass drug screening and background check.
Physical Demands:

Must be able to walk, stand, sit, carry a ladder, lift 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities.

Work Environment:

Field environment with up to 75% travel required. Must work in noisy outdoor settings, independently and as part of a team. Daily face-to-face communication required. Use of office equipment necessary.
