Job summary

The State of Indiana, INDOT Crawfordsville District, is seeking a Highway Technician to support construction projects and winter operations. You will test materials, review plans, and document daily records while coordinating with contractors and INDOT staff.

Role requires a valid CDL within 90 days, ability to lift 50 pounds, and willingness to work in varying weather. CDL training and on-site instruction provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to communicate with contractors and INDOT personnel.
• Ability to lead a crew in the field.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and endure inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing on materials like concrete and soils.
• Read plans and specifications to ensure work is performed correctly.
• Report daily operations, material records, and payments into software.
• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment as required.
• Perform winter operations duties including snow and ice removal.
