Job summary

Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is seeking a Construction Project Inspector for the Greenfield District to inspect on-site contractor work on roads, bridges, and traffic signals, measuring quantities and testing materials, with daily data entry.

Candidates must obtain a Class A or B CDL within 90 days, pass a drug test, and understand highway guidelines. The role may involve bridge and geotechnical duties as assigned, with a focus on safety and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to pass drug test.
• Knowledge of highway guidelines and practices for construction inspection, testing, maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Able to lead a crew in the field.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment.
• Ensure staff complete work assignments and report problems.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure compliance with standards.
• Perform winter operations and snow/ice removal.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and pre-trip checks.
• Maintain traffic signs, route markers, and pavement markings.
• Respond to incidents with traffic control and signage.
