Job summary

CLA is looking to hire an Assistant Controller for our Higher Education Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice. Our CAAS service helps clients transform their business by mitigating risk, meeting deadlines, and identifying personnel needs.

Opportunities are available across multiple locations. As an Assistant Controller, you will perform controller functions for the client’s accounting team, advise on best practices, manage multiple client projects, and prepare financial statements with

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience.
• Experience in Higher Education industry preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required; combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, Xero, or PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for the client’s accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor to clients on accounting and finance best practices.
• Provide project management by handling multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities for clients, communities, and people.
• Attend industry events and training to remain up to date.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal/state policies, and current accounting standards.

About The Role

CLA is looking to hire an Assistant Controller for our Higher Education Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice. Our CAAS service helps our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs. Opportunities are available in our Chicago, Il, King of Prussia, Pa Austin and Houston, Tx and Minneapolis, Mn locations.

As An Assistant Controller, You Will

• Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of the client’s accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.
• Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and training.
• Maintain knowledge of the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

What You Will Need

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Experience in the Higher Education Industry is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP
• Proficiency in accounting software, e.g. QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, Xero, Peoplesoft

The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $81,000.00 – $144,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $77,000.00- $139,000.00
