Job summary

Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company are seeking a Substation Technician Trainee/A/B to perform routine maintenance and installation work in high voltage electrical substations, with opportunities to progress to higher classifications.

You will learn to identify materials and tools, operate mobile equipment, follow safety rules, and support the team in testing, documentation, and hand-on skills development.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in electromechanical/electronics required.
• Military electromechanical/electronics training may be considered.
• Maintenance/testing experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Learn to identify materials, tools and voltages used in substation work.
• Learn to operate mobile and communications equipment.
• Learn basic knots, rigging, and tensile strengths of lines.
• Safety-oriented, follow OSHA and company rules.
• Assist with time/material accounting and material preparation.

Education

Two-year degree in electromechanical/electronics
