Job summary

LG&E and KU Energy LLC is seeking a Substation Technician at the A/B or Trainee level to perform routine maintenance and installation in high voltage substations. The role includes learning materials handling, equipment operation, and safety procedures, with progression based on background and experience.

The position requires a two-year electromechanical/electronics degree and a valid driver’s license, with relocation considerations and a willingness to relocate within 30 miles of the report

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in an electromechanical/electronics discipline is required.
• Experience with substation maintenance/test equipment may be considered in lieu of the degree.
• Must have good mathematical, literacy, and communications skills.
• EEI test must be successfully recommended.

Responsibilities

• Learn to identify and use materials, tools, equipment and voltages used in substation construction and maintenance.
• Learn to operate mobile and communications equipment.
• Learn basic knots and riggings and understand rope strengths.
• Assist with safety checks, tool inventories and work area cleanliness.
• Learn OSHA and Company safety rules; CPR/First Aid.
• Assist in time/material accounting and material preparation for installations and maintenance.
• Support co-workers in installation/maintenance and use of equipment.
