Willdan Group, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Physical Design Engineer/Designer to support power transmission, renewable energy, BESS, and data center projects across the United States.

The role focuses on accurate drawings, design deliverables, and coordination with civil, structural, and protection disciplines. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of substation design, drafting in AutoCAD or MicroStation, and experience interpreting criteria and markups to produce high-quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of relevant electrical physical design experience, including detailed design of substations.
• Experience coordinating substation design with civil, structural and protection and control disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical physical design of HV substations, interconnection facilities, utility-scale solar, wind projects, BESS, and data center power infrastructure from design through construction.
• Independently complete electrical design and drafting tasks from criteria, sketches, calculations and markups.
• Develop and revise electrical physical design drawings: layouts, elevations, sections, grounding, conduit, cable routing.
• Prepare and maintain P&C drawings: one-line/three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring documents, BOMs.
• Create and maintain CAD blocks, templates, and ensure compliance with CAD standards and project specs.
• Assemble complete drawing packages for reviews, submittals, permitting, procurement and construction.
