Job summary

Willdan is seeking an Electrical Physical Design Engineer to support power transmission, renewable energy, BESS and data center projects across the United States. The role requires strong electrical design fundamentals, drafting proficiency, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and markups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or BTech in Electrical Technology from an accredited institution.
• 5–10 years of relevant electrical physical design experience, including detailed design of medium or high voltage substations.
• Experience coordinating substation physical design with civil, structural and protection and control disciplines.
• Previously working for Consulting engineering firms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the electrical physical design of high-voltage substations, interconnection facilities, utility scale solar and wind projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and data center power infrastructure from initial design through construction.
• Independently complete electrical design and drafting assignments by interpreting engineering criteria, sketches, calculations and redlines and markups.
• Develop and revise electrical physical design drawings and details, including substation equipment layouts, yard and control-room layouts, elevations, sections, grounding layouts and installation details.
• Prepare, revise and maintain P&C drawings, including one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring documents and BOMs.
• Create and maintain CAD blocks and drawing standards, ensure compliance with CAD standards and project specs.
• Assemble complete drawing packages for internal reviews, client submittals, permitting procurement and construction.
• Coordinate design requirements with civil, structural, protection and control, SCADA and other disciplines.
