Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician - Electrical Testing in Texas to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair on distribution systems and equipment.

You will work with a team to ensure safety, efficiency, and top quality standards. Responsibilities include traveling to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and collect data on low to high voltage systems, transformer testing, relay testing, and on-call duty.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience performing switchgear testing.
• NETA Certification (I/II/III/IV) or similar preferred.
• Associate’s degree in Electrical Power & Controls or EE degree (ABET).
• Must be able to drive locally and travel commercially.
• Proficient PC skills: email, internet, data entry, Excel; PowerDB a plus.
• Must be fluent in reading/writing/speaking English.
• Willingness to pass background and pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start-up, and data-collect on low/medium/high voltage systems.
• Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, insulation resistance).
• Test electro-mechanical and solid state relays.
• Conduct cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
• Troubleshoot automatic transfer switch and switchgear testing.
• Assist in relay calibration and power metering tasks.
• Rotate on-call duty and respond to emergencies as needed.
