Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Field Service Technician – Electrical Testing to perform testing, maintenance, and repair on electrical distribution systems.

The role involves travel to customer sites and hands-on analysis to ensure safety and high-quality results. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of switchgear testing experience, NETA certification preferred, and the ability to read schematics, operate PowerDB, and use testing equipment such as Doble/TTR.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of switchgear testing & troubleshooting experience.
• ABET-accredited EE or EPC degree preferred.
• NETA Certification (I–IV) or similar desired.
• Good PC skills: email, internet, data entry, Excel.
• Able to pass safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot and collect data on voltage systems.
• Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, IR).
• Test relay types and perform cable testing (Tan Delta, PF, VLF, Hipot).
• Troubleshoot ATS, switchgear and breakers; calibrate relays and meters.
• Rotate on-call duties and respond to emergencies promptly.
