Job summary

Synopsys Inc in Hillsboro, OR is seeking an experienced hardware validation engineer to join the R&D team focusing on high-speed SerDes PHYs. You will work in a hands-on lab, test silicon, debug across analog and digital domains, and develop custom test boards and automation to accelerate characterization.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in EE, strong lab skills, Verilog/FPGAs, and proficiency in MATLAB or Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong understanding of high-speed SerDes concepts and test methodology.
• Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and test setups.
• Proficient in Python or MATLAB for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with Verilog and FPGA-based test patterns is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Test silicon implementations of high-speed SerDes PHYs in a lab environment.
• Debug silicon behavior and supporting hardware when results differ from expectations.
• Run characterization tests across PVT corners and compile test reports.
• Design and build test boards and automate test sequences for protocols like USB, PCIe, SATA, Ethernet.
