Job summary

DESERT SUNRISE HIGH SCHOOL in Maricopa, Arizona is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach. This part‑time role reports to the Athletic Director and involves supporting the head coach, preparing practices, and guiding student athletes in skill development.

The position requires coaching experience, a commitment to discipline and sportsmanship, and completion of required certifications including First Aid/CPR and NFHS concussion course. Stipend is paid according to the current schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching high school athletics.
• Ability to promote discipline and sportsmanship.
• Certified in First Aid and CPR; NFHS concussion course.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for successful performance.
• Provide a positive learning environment for the athletes.
• Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season in accordance with district policy and AIA regulations.
• Manage athlete behavior during training sessions and during meets or events.
• Oversee the safety conditions of the facility/area in which the sport is conducted.
• Provide athletic director with team rosters and end-of-year inventory.
