Job summary

DESERT SUNRISE HIGH SCHOOL in Maricopa, Arizona seeks an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach to provide leadership for student-athletes and support the athletic program. You will work under the Athletic Director to develop skills, discipline, and teamwork while promoting sportsmanship.

The role requires coaching experience, AED certification, and completion of NFHS training. This is a full-time position with a stipend according to the district schedule and an emphasis on safety and educational value.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and ability to work with high school athletes.
• Must be certified by the Arizona Department of Education or willing to obtain.
• Completion of NFHS Coaches Course including Concussion Course; First Aid/CPR.

Responsibilities

• Coach athletes in skills necessary for successful performance.
• Provide a positive learning environment for the athletes.
• Plan and schedule a regular practice program in season per district policy.
• Manage athlete behavior during training sessions and meets.
• Oversee safety and facility readiness during activities.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director on interscholastic contests.
• Maintain team records and rosters; assist with equipment needs.
