Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time contract role serving high school students in the New Orleans area. You will provide accurate interpretation across campuses, ensuring access to instruction and school activities while collaborating with educators and families.

The ideal candidate holds a valid EIPA 4.0 or RID/NIC credentials and is listed on the LCDC Registry, with prior experience in educational settings and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must have valid EIPA score 4.0 (performance and written) or RID/NIC with written component
• Current listing on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry)
• Experience in educational settings, especially with high school students
• Familiarity with interpreting practices in classrooms and schools
• Ability to adapt interpreting style to diverse student needs and content
• Strong communication and collaboration with students, staff and families
• Fingerprinting and drug screening per district policies and credentialing requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpretation for high school students across assigned campuses (number of schools TBD)
• Facilitate communication between students, educators, and support staff for access to instruction and activities
• Support IEP goals as a member of the educational team
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
• Document interpretation services for compliance as needed
