Job summary

State of Louisiana is seeking an American Sign Language Interpreter for the Louisiana Special Schools on a part‑time basis. The role involves interpreting, translating and transliterating for meetings with faculty, staff, students and families, including IEP meetings and conferences.

Flexibility in shifts is required; some travel, after‑school, night and weekend work may be necessary. Applicants must have RID/NIC/EIPA certifications and a bachelor’s degree with two years of certified

Qualifications

• Possession of RID CI/CT/NIC/EIPA 4.0+ and EIPA written test.
• Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of full‑time certified interpreting experience.
• Within 90 days, education ancillary certificate by LDOE or grandfathered certificate.
• Within six months, Advanced Plus SLPI rating with Superior within 2 years.
• Good human relations skills.
• Must become an LSDVI approved driver.

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpreting, translation, and transliterating services for meetings involving faculty, staff, students and families.
• Settings include parent meetings, IEP meetings, conferences, student evaluations and testing situations.
• Willing to work flexible shifts; travel, after school, night and weekend work may be required.
