The ideal candidate holds a valid EIPA 4.0 or RID/NIC credentials and is listed on the LCDC Registry, with prior experience in educational settings and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must have valid EIPA score 4.0 (performance and written) or RID/NIC with written component
• Current listing on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry)
• Experience in educational settings, especially with high school students
• Familiarity with interpreting practices in classrooms and schools
• Ability to adapt interpreting style to diverse student needs and content
• Strong communication and collaboration with students, staff and families
• Fingerprinting and drug screening per district policies and credentialing requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpretation for high school students across assigned campuses (number of schools TBD)
• Facilitate communication between students, educators, and support staff for access to instruction and activities
• Support IEP goals as a member of the educational team
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
• Document interpretation services for compliance as needed

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid EIPA score of 4.0 (performance and written required), or alternative credentials (RID or NIC accepted with written component)
• Current listing on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health)
• Experience working in educational settings, particularly with high school students, is highly valued
• Familiarity with effective interpreting practices in classrooms and school communities
• Ability to adapt interpreting style to diverse student needs and academic content
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
• Completion of fingerprinting and drug screening per district policies, along with meeting standard credentialing requirements
