Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education or related field required at time of appointment
• Two or more years of experience as an assistant principal including supervisory responsibilities
• State of Ohio Principal license (Grades 5-12) required

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day activities of building staff including hiring, training, counseling and evaluating staff
• Prepares and administers building budgets and oversees procurement of books, supplies, and equipment
• Maintains current knowledge of best practices in high school curriculum and administration and implements changes
• Ensures credentials and ongoing professional development for department staff
• Maintains records and ensures confidentiality and proper documentation
• Communicates with central office, staff, students, parents and community to promote the school's vision
• Fosters positive school-community relations and supports parental participation
• Tracks student achievement and progress toward goals and takes corrective action
• Collaborates with intervention teams, counselors and safety staff to reduce drop-out rates and improve academics
• Monitors safety, enforces health standards, and develops crisis and emergency plans
• Plans and coordinates grade-level activities and after-school events, ensuring appropriate student behavior
