Job summary

Columbus City Schools is seeking an Administrator of Academic Services to provide strategic direction at an assigned middle school, ensuring alignment with district mission and instructional goals. In this role, you will oversee curriculum execution, supervise staff, manage budgets, and coordinate with central office to support student achievement and school safety.

Candidates should hold a Master's in education leadership, Ohio Principal license, and multiple years of assistant principal

Qualifications

• Master's degree in education, educational leadership, administration or a related field.
• Two or more years of experience as an assistant principal, with supervisory responsibilities.
• State of Ohio Principal license (Grades 4-9, or 5-12).

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day activities of building staff, including hiring, training, counseling, evaluating staff.
• Prepares and administers building budgets; oversees procurement of books, supplies, materials and equipment.
• Maintains current knowledge of best practices, trends and new developments in middle school curriculum, instruction and building administration.
• Ensures departmental staff maintains required credentials and provides ongoing development aligned with district goals.
• Maintains accurate personnel, student and fiscal records; protects confidentiality; ensures reports are complete.
• Establishes communication with central office, staff, students, parents and others; promotes the building's vision.
• Creates a positive atmosphere to motivate students and staff; engages families and community partners.
• Tracks student achievement and progress; initiates corrective actions as needed.
• Works with intervention teams and counselors to decrease drop-out rates and improve academic success.
• Monitors safety standards and develops emergency/crisis plans; ensures drills are conducted.
