Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks a high school math teacher to join our team and lead students toward autonomous, college-ready learning. You will teach Algebra, Geometry, or Calculus using a rigorous math curriculum and help students develop problem-solving and reasoning skills.

You will participate in weekly coaching, professional development, and collaborative planning with the Math department to set goals and improve student outcomes in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Academic expertise in Mathematics, Science, Technology, or related fields.
• 1-2 years experience in urban schools preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required; NY state certification eligibility required; enroll in teacher preparation if no degree in education.

Responsibilities

• Teach content including Algebra, Geometry, or Calculus using AP-ready curriculum.
• Support students in solving problems and thinking critically.
• Foster a community of self-guided learners with engaging math activities.
• Collaborate with Math department to set academic and engagement goals.
• Meet weekly with principal/coach to analyze student work trends and differentiate instruction.
• Build positive relationships with students and involve families in learning.
