Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks a high school math teacher to join our urban networks in New Jersey. You will work in grade and content teams to motivate students, teach Algebra/Geometry/Calculus, and prepare them for AP and college coursework.

You will collaborate with the Math department, analyze student data weekly with the principal or coach, and engage in ongoing professional development to foster a culture of self-guided learners and strong math proficiency.

Qualifications

• Academic expertise in Mathematics, Science, Technology, or related fields.
• Interest in impacting urban K-12 students; 1–2 years preferred.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• All instructional staff must become certified in New Jersey within a reasonable period after starting employment.

Responsibilities

• Teach math content including Algebra, Geometry, or Calculus; prepare students for AP and college coursework.
• Support students as they solve problems and think critically.
• Foster a community of self-guided learners with confidence and engagement in math.
• Collaborate with the Math department to set academic and engagement goals.
• Meet weekly with principal and instructional coach to analyze student work trends.
• Participate in weekly school-wide meetings to advance core values and student achievement.
