Qualifications

• Valid Illinois teaching certificate or ASEP/NFHS certification as IHSA requires.
• CPR/AED certification compliant with IHSA safety rules.
• IHSA concussion training and safety protocols completed.
• Background check and fingerprinting cleared per Illinois School Code.
• Title IX training completed for anti-discrimination compliance.
• In-depth sport knowledge, coaching experience preferred.
• Non-teaching staff must hold a current coaching certification.
• Concussion certification typically valid for two years.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, practice and conditioning plans.
• Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics including equipment, warm-ups and scorekeeping.
• Maintain and inventory athletic equipment; coordinate repairs and issuing.
• Ensure IHSA rules, district policies, CPR/AED readiness, and concussion safety.
• Assist with athlete eligibility tracking and required medical/academic clearances.
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents and staff; liaise with Head Coach.
• Participate in preseason parent meetings and team briefings; post-season tasks.
• Assist with game scheduling, travel logistics and budget tracking for equipment.
• Prepare materials for booster meetings and disseminate program updates.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director on equipment purchases and staff assignments.
• Additional duties as assigned by administration.
