Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking a Boys Baseball Assistant Coach at Proviso West High School to support the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating drills, practices, and competitions. The role emphasizes safety, inclusion, and development of student-athletes, with strong collaboration among students, teachers, administrators and parents.

Qualified candidates must hold IHSA credentials or ASEP/NFHS, CPR/AED and concussion training, pass background checks, and

Qualifications

Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification.
CPR and AED certification required for high school athletic coaches.
IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocols per state/federal regs.
Background check and fingerprinting clearance.
Completion of Title IX training to ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, practice plans, and conditioning sessions.
Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, and scorekeeping.
Maintain inventory of athletic equipment and coordinate repairs and issuance.
Ensure adherence to IHSA rules and safety protocols including CPR/AED readiness and concussion management.
