Job summary

Proviso West High School is seeking an Athletics/Activities Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in planning and implementing the program for student-athletes. The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and development within an athletic culture.

The ideal candidate will have an Illinois teaching certificate or ASEP/NFHS certification, IHSA concussion and CPR/AED training, and complete Title IX training. This is a non-tenure, extra-duty stipend position with a yearly stipend of $6,076.52.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification.
CPR and AED certification per IHSA requirements.
IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocols per state/federal regs.
Background check and fingerprinting clearance.
Title IX training for anti-discrimination compliance.
Coaching certification through ASEP/NFHS or IHSA-approved programs.
Concussion certification valid for two years.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, practice plans, and conditioning sessions.
Provide individualized feedback to student-athletes on technique and sportsmanship.
Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, and scorekeeping.
Maintain and inventory equipment, coordinate repairs and storage.
Monitor IHSA rules, district policies, CPR/AED readiness, and concussion management.
Support athlete eligibility tracking and required documentation.
