Metropolitan School District of Washington Township in Indianapolis is seeking an AVID Tutor – High School at North Central High School. The position is hourly, non-exempt, with Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 3:30pm during the 185-day school year.

Education: college graduate or currently enrolled in a four-year college. The tutor will work with AVID students in small groups across subjects, prepare mini-lessons, review student binders, and communicate progress with the AVID teacher.

Qualifications

• AVID tutors should be enrolled at four-year colleges or graduates.
• Must work with middle- and high-school students to help them succeed in coursework.
• AVID tutors should be motivated, organized role models who believe students can succeed.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students in small groups across subjects based on AVID notes.
• Determine concepts to teach based on student notes and discussions.
• Conduct mini-lessons in writing, study skills, and college preparation.
• Communicate progress with the AVID teacher regarding student progress.
