Job summary

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is seeking AVID tutors to support students in achieving college and career readiness. Tutors will facilitate small-group and one-on-one sessions, using AVID methodologies and materials to guide student learning.

Responsibilities include conducting sessions, identifying key concepts, guiding independent learning, and providing feedback in person or online. Training and mentorship will be provided to ensure effective tutoring and student success.

Qualifications

• AVID tutors should be excellent role models of motivated, organized, successful college students.
• Tutors work with AVID students in study groups and individually, assisting them in all academic areas to make progress toward college and career readiness skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person tutorial sessions in collaborative learning groups.
• Determine concepts to focus on from student worksheets, notes, and discussions.
• Guide students to shoulder responsibility for their own active learning with supportive strategies.
• Assist students in any subject area using AVID classroom resources.
• Provide constructive feedback online and/or in-person on student work.
• Support AVID scholars through care and connection.
