Job summary

Roosevelt High in Des Moines is seeking an HS Ratio Assistant Coach (Stipend) to support the athletic program. As a part-time coach, you will assist the Head Coach in running practices, developing skill progression, and promoting sportsmanship among student-athletes.

The role requires an Iowa coaching endorsement or authorization, plus strong communication, leadership, and safety competencies. This stipend position supports the athletic department during the season and may include game-day

Qualifications

Valid Iowa Coaching Endorsement or Coaching Authorization.
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
Coaching and/or leadership experience.
First Aid and CPR.
Knowledge of conference rules and regulations.
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Coach in the operation of the athletic program.
Instruct players on the rules, equipment, and techniques of the sport as determined by the head coach.
Ensure compliance with state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
Provide proper supervision of athletes at all times.
Participate in team prospect meetings and encourage potential athletes to join the sport.
Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and related duties.
Monitor the academic performance of team members to meet eligibility requirements.
Model sportsmanship and nondiscriminatory practices.
Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
