South Washington County Schools is seeking a Temporary High Needs/Resource Special Ed Paraprofessional for Lake Middle School. The 6.5-hour day runs 7:30 a.m.

to 2:30 p.m., with a 1-hour unpaid lunch, starting as soon as possible through December 22, 2026. The position provides instructional and behavioral support to special education students under a licensed special education teacher, with opportunities for advancement to Highly Qualified status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to meet District 833 Highly Qualified requirements.
• Competencies as required by State of Minnesota, Federal government, and/or District 833.
• Possess the skills and ability to reinforce math, reading, and writing skills in classrooms.
• Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds.
• Proven teamwork, confidentiality, and communication skills.
• Models appropriate behavior and orderly classroom conduct.
• Self-directed and able to organize small group activities.
• Ability to pass Paraprofessional fitness for duty tests.
• Certification in first aid and CPR.

Responsabilités

• Consult daily with licensed special education teacher regarding daily responsibilities.
• Assist teacher with district policies, emergency procedures, confidentiality, data collection, and classroom management.
• Assist students in reading, writing or math following curriculum and adaptations.
• Support students with learning or behavioral challenges and provide physical assistance when needed.
• Accept work direction, shift and new assignments as needed.
• Utilize behavioral management techniques and monitor student behavior.
• Collect and record student data per teacher's directions.
• Provide services respectfully within roles of teacher, paraprofessional and staff.
• Maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
