Job summary

Dennis Eagle in Kensington, London, is seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our Aftermarket team. This hands-on role involves maintaining and repairing refuse collection vehicles to ensure safety, compliance, and reliable service for customers.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance required.
  • Experience in commercial vehicle repair and servicing.
  • Confident diagnosing faults and finding solutions.
  • Understanding of electronics, hydraulics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Able to work independently and manage workload.
  • Willing to travel and work flexible overtime.
  • EV experience, IRTEC qualification, or HGV Class 2 license advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and repair chassis and mounted equipment.
  • Service vehicles to standards and prepare for MOT inspections.
  • Complete body and chassis repairs per DoT specs.
  • Maintain records and update job information.
  • Build relationships with customers, including on-site work.
  • Ensure safe, efficient work to high standards.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
  • Participate in training and skill development.

Job description

Role: HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic

Location: Kensington, W14 8PT

Hours: 45 hours per week | 9 hours per day between 09:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday

Salary: between £45,372.23 and £53,436.24 pa DOE

Do you enjoy working on vehicles and take pride in delivering high-quality, reliable workmanship? We’re looking for a skilled and dependable HGV Technician to join our Aftermarket team.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone who values doing a job well, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to be part of a supportive team. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing refuse collection vehicles, helping ensure they’re safe, compliant, and ready to serve our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on chassis and mounted equipment
  • Service vehicles to VOSA standards and support preparation for MOT inspections
  • Complete body and chassis repairs in line with Department of Transport specifications
  • Maintain accurate records and update job information in company systems
  • Build positive relationships with customers, including working independently at customer sites
  • Ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
  • Follow health and safety procedures and carry out risk assessments as required
  • Take part in training and development to build your skills and knowledge
About You
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance
  • Experience in commercial vehicle repair and servicing
  • Confident in diagnosing faults and identifying effective solutions
  • Understanding of electronics, hydraulics, and wiring diagrams
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly, including overtime when needed
  • Experience with electric vehicles, IRTEC qualification, or an HGV Class 2 licence would be an advantage
