Job summary

Venatu Consulting Ltd. is seeking an HGV Technician in Livingston to maintain, inspect, service and repair trailers within a busy workshop. The role offers day and night shifts with a 4 on 4 off pattern, and paid overtime on a 1.5x basis.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, perform routine servicing, and ensure compliance with safety standards, contributing to a reliable fleet and high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an HGV/LGV/Trailer Technician
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Relevant HGV/trailer qualifications are desirable

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on trailers
• Inspect trailers and identify mechanical faults
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues
• Carry out preventative maintenance and safety inspections
• Work on braking systems, suspension, lighting and other trailer components
• Ensure work is completed to a high standard
• Maintain accurate service and repair records
• Ensure vehicles and trailers are safe, roadworthy and compliant
• Work effectively as part of a professional workshop team

HGV Technician

Location: Livingston

Pay: £24.00 per hour - Days | £26.00 per hour - Nights

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off days or nights

Overtime: Paid at 1.5x hourly rate

Contract: Permanent

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, inspection, servicing and repair of a fleet of commercial vehicles, with the role mainly involving trailer maintenance and repairs.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on trailers
• Inspecting trailers and identifying mechanical faults
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues
• Carrying out preventative maintenance and safety inspections
• Working on braking systems, suspension, lighting and other trailer components

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, LGV Technician, Trailer Technician or Heavy Vehicle Technician
• Experience working on trailers would be highly desirable
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A high level of attention to detail
• A strong commitment to health and safety
• Relevant HGV / trailer qualifications are desirable
