Job summary

Dennis Eagle is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Chassis Team. You will shape the next generation of market-leading products, taking designs from concept through to production in a collaborative, practical engineering environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (MEng/BEng, HNC/HND).
  • Extensive mechanical design experience in an automotive or similar environment.
  • CAD experience with Solid Edge and drawings to BS8888 standards.
  • Experience across the product lifecycle from concept to production.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the design and development of systems and components from concept through to production.
  • Translate requirements into practical engineering solutions ensuring robust designs.
  • Produce high-quality engineering drawings, models and documentation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, cost and quality.
  • Support product launches and resolve production and in-service issues.
  • Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis and implement fixes.
  • Contribute to validation activities and ensure standards are met.
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior engineers where appropriate.

Role: SeniorMechanical Design Engineer

Hours: 37 hours per week | between 08:00 and 16:30 Monday to Thursday, and 08:00-13:00 Friday

Salary: between £45,000 and £60,000 pa DOE

We're looking for an experienced and practical engineer to join our Chassis Team, playing a key role in the design and development of the next generation of market-leading products. What You'll Do
  • Take responsibility for the design and development of systems and components, supporting projects from concept through to production

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver projects to time, cost, and quality expectations
  • Support product launches and provide engineering input to resolve production and in-service issues
  • Investigate technical and field issues, carry out root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions
  • Contribute to validation activities, ensuring designs meet required standards and performance criteria
  • Share knowledge and support less experienced engineers where appropriate
What We're Looking For
  • Degree (MEng/BEng), HNC/HND, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in mechanical design engineering within an automotive or similar engineering environment, ideally gained working on complex engineering products or systems throughout the product lifecycle from concept through to production
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, including materials, stress, fatigue, and design principles
  • Experience using CAD (Solid Edge desirable) and producing engineering drawings to recognised standards (e.g. BS8888)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture/assembly
  • Experience working across the product lifecycle, from concept through to production support
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage your own workload effectively
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative working style
