Job summary

Nemours Children's Health seeks a Supervisor, Laboratory Operations for the Hematopathology service to provide technical, operational, quality, and people leadership. This role ensures safe, reliable daily operations for pediatric oncology and related clinical trials in partnership with laboratory administration and clinical stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will lead testing, quality improvement, and regulatory readiness while supporting fiscal stewardship and staff development.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Medical Technology or equivalent required.
• Minimum five years of practical clinical laboratory experience, including high-complexity testing.
• Minimum three years in a supervisor or team lead role.
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP, AAB, or AMT) eligible within 6 months of hire.
• Flow cytometry and hematology experience strongly preferred; bone marrow morphology or hematologic malignancy diagnostics preferred.
• Experience with assay validation, regulatory inspections, quality management, and workforce development.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational oversight for high complexity hematopathology testing.
• Ensure testing is accurate, safe, compliant, and timely with corrective action when needed.
• Partner with leaders to evaluate, validate, implement, and monitor new assays, methods, instruments, software, and workflows.
• Serve as technical and operational resource for staff, physicians, and clinical teams.
• Act as liaison to oncology, stem cell transplant, clinical trials, pathology, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain readiness for licensing, accreditation, inspections; coordinate deficiencies closure.
• Establish and monitor quality control, proficiency testing, QA, and performance indicators.
• Lead, coach, schedule, develop, and evaluate personnel; promote safe, inclusive, collaborative environment.
• Support operating and capital budgets, purchasing, staffing, inventory, equipment, and workload data.
• Evaluate LIS/informatics processes, support workflow validation, staff training, and documentation.
