Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc in Royal Oak, MI seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with rotational weekend duties. The role involves following procedures for specimen handling, test analyses, and reporting results in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment.

The candidate will analyze specimens, review and release results, and comply with CLIA/HIPAA/OSHA guidelines while pursuing training opportunities and career growth within a Fortune 500 diagnostics leader.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; previously qualified under 42 CFR 493.
• 1 year clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
• MLS, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Lab Scientist, Med Tech, Medical Technologist, CLS, Clinical Lab Scientist.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining patient test records.
• Maintain records showing proficiency testing samples are tested the same as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Adhere to laboratory policies when test systems exceed performance limits.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting and notify senior staff.
