Job summary

City of Washington seeks a skilled equipment operator to manage large motorized equipment for streets, drainage, and water/sewer line work. You will operate backhoe, mowing tractors, street sweeper, loader, and other medium to heavy equipment independently or with a crew.

You will also perform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment used. Responsibilities include digging, setting meter boxes, locating lines, and loading materials for disposal.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of traffic laws governing equipment operation.
• Ability to operate and service medium to heavy equipment.
• Familiarity with public works or utilities functions.
• Understanding safety precautions for large equipment in construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes, loaders, trucks, and other equipment as part of a crew.
• Dig and trench for utilities, meter boxes, and lines with care for underground assets.
• Load, unload, and transport materials and debris.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections.
• May serve as team lead in the absence of crew leader and keep basic records.
