Job summary

Magnolia Companies is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support our Underground Utilities Division in Washington, DC. You will operate crawler excavators, front-end loaders, and related equipment to install sewer and water systems.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience, is safety-focused, and can work effectively with field crews. You will perform site excavation, equipment maintenance, and collaborate with foremen to complete projects safely and on schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• Experience with sewer and water installation required.
• Proven experience with crawler and mini excavators and front-end loaders.
• Experience excavating around existing underground utilities.
• Knowledge of safety practices and jobsite procedures.
• Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license; DC license preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy construction equipment, including crawler excavators (large to mini size), front-end loaders, and other related equipment.
• Perform excavation, grading, trenching, and material movement activities for sewer and water installation projects.
• Safely excavate around existing underground utilities while following jobsite safety procedures.
• Install underground sewer and water systems according to project specifications and requirements.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain equipment and ensure proper operation and care.
• Assist other craft workers and field personnel to support successful project completion.
• Follow instructions from foremen, supervisors, and project leadership.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
