Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an Equipment Operator in Stanton to operate heavy machinery for road maintenance and construction, ensuring safety and quality of infrastructure. The role requires operating tractors, motor graders, excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and other equipment, with opportunities for on-the-job training and advancement.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in maintenance and/or construction equipment operation.
• Related college education or relevant technical training may substitute for experience.
• Must have a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License for equipment operation at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment including tractors, graders, excavators and dump trucks.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and minor repairs on equipment.
• Relocate equipment on haul trailers, loading and unloading as required.
• Assist with traffic control and perform duties as a work crew lead when assigned.
• Train other employees on equipment operation and safety procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties.
